Biography of Michael Rosenbaum
Senior Advisor
 
Michael Rosenbaum has advised C-suite executives at more than 200 companies on topics from value creation to marketing to investor targeting to M&A, representing both Fortune 100 companies and pre-sale start-ups. Along the way, he helped build and rose to president of a $35 million consulting firm specializing in financial value creation.

 

Michael focuses clients on ways to capitalize on the strengths that already exist in their businesses, making implementation efforts more cost-effective and achievable. Having worked with senior management in dozens of industries, he has strong insights into the factors that make each client unique, as well as common themes that can be applied without reinventing the wheel.

 

Michael brings a unique set of experiences to client engagements, including several years as a business reporter and editor. After writing for United Press International, Barron’s, Crain’s Chicago Business, the Journal of Commerce and the Washington Post, among others, Michael earned his MBA and became a consultant to public companies. In 1983, he joined The Financial Relations Board, the nation’s largest investor relations firm at the time, and was named president in 1997. After he and his partners sold the agency in 1999, Michael continued advising clients in areas of business strategy, competitive advantage, communication and marketing.  In 2012, he founded Quadrant Five, a value-creation and marketing consultancy.

 

Speaking and Writing

Michael has authored five books and is widely published on business issues. His most popular presentation, "What Your Customers Haven’t Told You…Yet," emphasizes the importance of building corporate strategies and systems around customer value drivers. His published articles have appeared in Forbes.com, Washington Post, New York Times, Barron’s, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and he has been a guest on numerous television, radio and online interview programs. Michael has spoken to groups as varied as the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors, Vistage, Entrepreneur’s Organization, National Association of Corporate Directors, Chicago Bar Association and the New York Society of Securities Analysts.

 

Education and Certifications

Michael earned an MBA from Roosevelt University and a BA from the University of Illinois.

 

Board and Volunteer Activities

Michael has served in a number of leadership positions in both the Young Presidents’ Organization and its sister group, the World Presidents’ Organization, both in the Chicago chapters of these groups and, currently, as communications chair for WPO’s East Central Region. He is marketing chair for AMAA’s Mid-Market Alliance and has served on private boards of directors. He has been very active in the non-profit world, as well, serving on the boards of several non-profit groups. In 2015, Michael received the Order of Merit from the President of Poland for his (non-profit) work in Polish/Jewish relations.
